Arctic Hills Hideaway [1]
Peaceful and a good price.
Reviewed on 2023-10-23 by , Indianapolis, IN United StatesThis is my third time staying here. We've had as few as two people here and as many as six, comfortably. The hill to the West provides good shade late in the day to help cool things off. I enjoy sitting on the deck reading a book and watching the animals walk by. I've seen deer, turkeys, hawks among other critters.
Just to the South of the property, off the deck, there are several birch trees. The leaves make the most peaceful sound in the wind. There is always plenty of firewood for the fire pit out back, just pay attention to the fire risk level.

I made a few improvement recommendations last year and they were all taken care of. A better more comfortable mattress with tables next to the bed were added, thanks.

Artic Hills Hideaway
Reviewed on 2023-09-27 by , Alton, IA United StatesPerfect for 2 couples. Nice to each have our own bathroom. It was clean & had almost everything we needed. Great supply of towels was a plus. Would have been nice to have an ice maker in the fridge. Also if you don't like doing dishes there is no dishwasher. Nice location. They are developing the area so there was machinery that was a little noisy at times. We would definitely consider this cabin again.
Week in the Black HIlls
Reviewed on 2023-08-17 by , New Glarus, WI USThe negatives were it not being secluded like it looks in the picture, there was NO A/C and the drive way was too steep/tight for our truck and trailer to make it up.
However, we did enjoy mornings and evenings on the deck however & had no problems with the bed. Would be great for families or UTVer's with a smaller trailer.
Overall we had an amazing time in the black hills! The property was clean, we saw deer from the deck, and it was close to the trails we needed for our UTVs!
The negatives were it not being secluded like it looks in the picture, there was NO A/C and the drive way was too steep/tight for our truck and trailer to make it up.
However, we did enjoy mornings and evenings on the deck however & had no problems with the bed. Please...a new bed!
Reviewed on 2023-06-14 by , Great Falls, MT USThis was a wonderful cabin....except for the master queen size bed. I woke up with spasms from stem to stern so to speak. I slept on the floor for the rest of our stay because it was so uncomfortable. With a new bed, I definitely stay there again.

Beautiful Cabin in the Black Hills
Reviewed on 2022-06-14 by Ian W. , Mishawaka, IN USThis Cabin is beautiful with beautiful views of the Black Hills. We would highly recommend staying at this cabin. The property manager was fantastic and promptly responded to any question that I had. There is an amazing amount of wild life that you will see on a daily basis. For future travelers not familiar with the area. Lynn’s Dakotamart in Lead is one of the closest grocery store’s to the cabin.
Wonderful getaway!

Artic Hills Hideaway Fall 2021
Reviewed on 2021-10-08 by , Valley Springs , SD United StatesThis cabin is amazing! Please update the pictures for this listing because the winter scene does not do it justice. It was well maintained other than a few small things. The mattress in the main bedroom could be replaced. The sliding screen door needs to be fixed. The bedroom tv had no remotes & the satellite tv did not work in the living area due to a missing remote. I reached out to property manager regarding the living area tv & was told they would stop out to look at it but they never did show up. I would recommend this great cabin to friends & family. We spend 4 days in the beautiful fall & enjoyed every minute.

Great Stay
Reviewed on 2021-10-04 by , Isanti, MN USWe had a great time and loved the cabin. The only issues we had were that there was only 3 wash cloths for 4 guests. We just bought a few, so no big deal, and there was no remote for the TV in the bedroom, again not a big deal. But it would have been nice. Other than that, it was great!

Family Getaway
Reviewed on 2021-08-07 by Wendy H. , Lincoln, NE USGreat location - close to many of the sights and activities in western South Dakota. Even though other cabins in the area, there were lots of deer wildlife to enjoy. We had a great time! Cabin clean and modern.
An excellent location
Reviewed on 2021-07-12 by Shane B. , Williston , ND United StatesPerfect location in a wonderful cabin. Only minor inconvenience is the lack of a screen storm door and no screen on the sliding door. No A/C so moving air out of the cabin is a bit more difficult than neccessary in the evening. Other than that it was a perfect place for us.
Great family cabin
Reviewed on 2021-07-04 by Mandy A. , Roland, IA United StatesThe location is great and easy to find. We stayed in summer and were worried about the lack of AC, but the cabin is high enough up the mountain that the temps aren't too warm in the day and cool off substantially at night.
We had some trouble with the internet when we first arrived but Budi with BHAL was super responsive and quickly had the issue resolved. The only thing I could point out as disappointing in the cabin would be the landscaping; it definitely lacks curb appeal and just looks messy. But once inside the cabin, everything is great!
Overall we loved our stay and will definitely stay with BHAL on our next trip to the Black Hills!
We loved our stay at the Arctic Hills Hideaway! It was the perfect size for our family of 4 - the kids slept upstairs and had their own bathroom, and a place to get some separation! I love being able to cook our own meals and save time & money not eating out. The kitchen is decently stocked, but I wouldn't call it well stocked if you really like to cook.
The location is great and easy to find. A good getaway
Reviewed on 2020-10-23 by , Spearfish, SD United StatesOverall, we were quite happy with the property that we booked as a birthday getaway. We had a little trouble with the internet, but attributed it to the low cloud cover and snow. It was quiet and cozy. The only thing that would make it better would be a hot tub!

Home away from home!
Reviewed on 2020-07-21 by Cory B. , Garretson, SD United StatesWe did have a wonderful experience! A couple of "hiccups" though. The first being moths. When we arrived Thursday night it was like the windows had been left open for a long period of time before we arrived for our stay. Hundreds of moths that we had to eventually kill so we could rest easy. Secondly, which this is very minor because we were leaving anyways, was the WiFi had quit working Sunday morning and wasn't working the way it should have (it had rained in the morning and don't know if this is what had caused it or not). Everything else was just how we had wanted it! Perfect amount of room for our family and the seclusion away from others was amazing! Highly recommend it!!!
Great stay!
Reviewed on 2020-07-16 by Brenda I. , Longmont, CO USDespite the fact that a tornado took out power to the area for 2 days of our trip, we loved our stay! The cabin is peaceful, beautiful, and well situated for UTV adventuring. The kitchen could use a few more pots and pans to accommodate those who enjoy cooking instead of eating out, but overall the cabin has everything you need! We plan to return without reservation.
Beautiful property.
Reviewed on 2020-07-02 by Gerald E. , Lake Villa, IL USLoved this cabin nestled in a neighborhood, yet lots of privacy. It was a fun family time during this time of covid 19. We saw deer daily, and a cute groundhog. Loved our time here.
Beautiful break from reality
Reviewed on 2020-05-26 by , West Des Moines, IA USReally enjoyed our stay. The place was very warm and relaxing. Far from other neighbors, quiet, and a well taken care of place. Everything was freshly remodeled. Close to town and things to do but also far enough away to “get away”. Our trips to Custer state park involved a lot of driving for the day, but it was still a good central location to come back to every evening after exploring the whole national and state forest. If your looking for a place to rest and feel comfortable, this is it.
